Winter Spa Preparation
Has your spa pool been neglected over the summer months? Are you wanting to give your spa a comprehensive deep clean, but don't know where to start?
We've put together a checklist of essential prep to give your spa a birthday before you soak this season!
Step 1: Soak those filters!
Clean filters are an essential factor in keep your spa water clear and inviting. Their main responsibility is to filter out all the nasties; dirt, oils and contaminants. To keep them squeaky clean, it's importance to use a proper cartridge cleaner, like BioGuard Filter Renew or Spa Master Cartridge Cleaner.
Filter Renew: Remove your filter and hose down, spray Filter Renew directly and leave to soak for a minimum of 15 minutes. Rinse again with the garden hose and return it back to its home in the spa.
Cartridge Cleaner: Dilute 130ml in a 10L bucket of water (can be cold or warm water) per cartridge. Best left to soak overnight. Rinse down with the garden hose and return back to the spa.
Step 2: Flush the pipes!
Your spas pipework is susceptible to becoming bogged with scale deposits and build-up of waste products like body fats and oils. You don't want to be soaking in those nasties when you start your spa for the season!
BioGuard Swirl Away: Shake the bottle well, and add 250ml into the water prior to draining. Close all air controls and run the pump on high speed for 1 hour. Drain the water and resume as normal.
Step 3: Scrub-a-dub that surface!
After draining, but before re-filling, clean the spa shell using an approved cleaner, like BioGuard Squeaky Clean, for a sparkling finish.
Squeaky Clean: Spray Squeaky Clean onto a damp cleaning cloth or sponge and give the shell a thorough scrub. Rinse down once finished. Alternatively, spray directly onto the surface and leave for 5-10 minutes before scrubbing.
REMEMBER:
- Hose out your cartridge filters once a week if the spa is getting heavy use, and clean with an approved filter cleaner at least once a month
- Squeaky Clean can be used in between deep cleans to remove any build-up on the water line - this will have no effect on your water balance
- Drain your spa using Swirl Away approximately every 3 months
